Arguably, in this space, about these issues, there are common practices, 
but few or no best practices.

Or a different view:  ISOC demonstrates the real world, and in this 
space, the real world is painful, inconsistent, and constraining.  ISOC 
is therefore doing quite a good job at communicating how things actually 
are...
