His video did an energetic segment on 1822 and the fact that it 
presented a canonical interface to such a wide variety of computers.

I don't know anything about the range of shared interfaces, for those 
days, but it seems like the next best one was RS-232...

So his getting fixated on it for this later issue might be understandable.
