Oh yeah! There was a Wednesday night poker game on the peninsula with about 5-8 people. One night we invited Bob Floyd to play. Big mistake... He had never played poker so we told him the rules and licked our chops. A few hands in and he had figured out the game including bluffing and took us to the cleaners. Nice guy, but somehow not invited back 😂👏.

Of course he gave out PhDs while at CMU. The early days of computer science found a number of brilliant people leading the field without advanced academic degrees of their own. Frothy times!
