Indeed the version of the Irvine Ring we created at UC Irvine had process oriented addressimg and multi-address capabilities since it was designed to be part of a  fully distributed computer system ( a cloud :-) ). MIT was more interested in its use as a local network and removed the process  oriented addressing.
