[Chapter-delegates] Funds from-to Chapters? -was- ISOC LIVE

+1 Sivas. There's also the erroneous assumption that all Chapters receive Admin
Funding -- IIRC, about a third of Chapters have been unable to receive funding
of any kind from ISOC Central since the new Chapters' Letter was enforced
several years back. So these Chapters have to make do with what they can source
locally, and/or work with and thru partner CSOs in order to continue work on
initiatives that align with ISOC's mission.
This is the main point -- ISOC's mission. While Vint's kind offer to step-in and
chip-in to support Joly's work is much appreciated by all, the LiveStreaming and
other value-added services that Joly includes is central to ISOC's mission and
should properly be the responsibility of ISOC Central, not Chapters, and not
individual donors.
Others have detailed the work that Joly does and does very well indeed -- at
$60K/year that's a bargain, practically minuscule when viewed against the
overall budget and the other big ticket items that ISOC spends for. If ISOC were
to replicate Joly's work it would likely take multiple staffers, cost far more,
and likely be less responsive. These experienced individuals provide ISOC with
excellent and cost-effective service.
The calls by Charles and Greg are much appreciated, thank you!
