Hi All,

I received mine on June 17 and it came from this email address.
member at surveymonkeyuser.com (rejman at isoc.org via SurveyMonkey)It was not titled a ballot but a consensus call

I would search for this email and you should be able to find it. It is only sent to the person listed in the chapter as being the rep to the chapter advisory council

Best,

Judith

 Dear Chapter Colleagues,

your Chapter Advisory Council representative will have received a ballot in their email from
member at surveymonkeyuser.com (rejman at isoc.org via SurveyMonkey)

This is an important voting ballot. It is awkwardly called a "consensus call" but in fact it is a VOTE which will determine whether there is support from Chapters for two proposals from Internet Society Puerto Rico Chapter:

 1. To open the Chapter Delegates Mailing List to Observers
 2. To ask the Internet Society Board to resume funding for ISOC.LIVE

Ask them to FIND THAT BALLOT IN THEIR EMAIL AND VOTE!

The deadline for answering this poll will be by end of day 1 July 2024.

 1. The first proposal is that the Chapter Delegate email list (https://elists.isoc.org/mailman/private/chapter-delegates/) should be opened to chapter members as observers (view only – not allowed to post) to enhance transparency and understanding of ongoing discussions concerning Internet Society chapters.

The summary and presentation (3 pages) on the issue of opening the chapter delegate mailing list to chapter members as observers can be found here: https://app.box.com/file/1529389295278

 2. The second proposal is that Internet Society funding for the ISOC LIVE video services and archiving services should be reinstated, and that Internet Society should financially support ISOC LIVE on an ongoing basis.

The summary and presentation (4 pages) on the issue of funding support for ISOC LIVE can be found here: https://app.box.com/file/1529393003452

I am not going to comment on the first poll as there are views for/against opening Chapter Delegates mailing list.

On the other hand, the second vote about ISOC.LIVE is one where I have very strong views.

As you know from some of the updated emails which Joly has sent to the Chapter Delegates mailing list, his service costs in the region of $64 000 per annum and currently Dr. Vint Cerf is funding it out of his own pocket (thank you!) until August 2024. Past that date we do not know what will happen. It is therefore very important that we, as Chapters, ask for the Internet Society Board of Trustees to bring back the funding for this excellent resource which many Chapters have benefited from - and your chapter can benefit directly too! The discussion is not about "live" and "recorded" or whatever ISOC is trying to make you believe. It is about having a channel that has high production value, with captions, titles, names of speakers, sound and video enhancement, a full description, as well as publicity for your event on many external mailing lists, raising the profile of your chapter and increasing the number of viewers for your content. Joly brings 40 years of experience in that field - he is no amateur and the productions speak for themselves.
Year ago, this was promoted by ISOC - in fact there was even talk of some video equipment to be shared with Chapters so they could stream their event with better quality picture etc. But in recent years, the Chapters have seen all of this taken away from them and replaced with... nothing but bureaucracy to stop them from utilising the resource.

 Not convinced?
 Check this: https://isoc.live/
 And this: https://livestream.com/internetsociety   - 24 000 followers
 And this too: https://livestream.com/internetsociety2
 And that: https://livestream.com/internetsociety3
And it's all in the process of being archived for posterity at archive.org !
 https://archive.org/details/isoc-live

All done by one person working with the Internet Society Chapters.

A bargain at $64K all included. But you might ask - "I thought ISOC does not have the money?"
The Internet Society is receiving $30M per annum from PIR.
The Internet Society foundation is receiving $30M per annum from PIR too.
And you're telling me there is no funding for a sum that constitutes 0.21% of that $30M budget?
0.1% of the total budget Internet Society + Internet Society Foundation?

Think about it and vote YES to ask the Board to reinstate funding for ISOC.LIVE

And vote - because if you don't, it's like voting no. ISOC.LIVE will no longer be funded and you'll only have yourselves to blame for losing the opportunity to showcase your Chapter's activities.
