Hello Charles, Caleb and all,

As a member of the NY Chapter BOD I work with the WHCR Emergency Broadcast Team (https://www.whcrebt.org/ ) to help the Harlem and the NYC community prepare for and mitigate the impacts of natural disasters and other catastrophes. We are happy to share our experiences in emergency preparedness, including reference to some of our recordings that can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=harlem+emergency+preparedness+day+2018, and our Emergency Checklist at: HTTPs://www.whcrebt.org/emergency-checklist<https://www.whcrebt.org/emergency-checklist>.

Also, we are preparing for our annual Harlem Emergency Preparedness Day event in late September of this year, which is generally livestreamed by ISOC-NY (https://livestream.com/accounts/9198012/events/10941100/videos/237735838 ). Perhaps there is a way for Chapters outside of the US to participate this year. Please let me know your thoughts about how we might work together on this issue.

Regards,
Stuart

Dear all, I also wonder if in the past ISOC or certain of its chapters have developed a set of guidelines to do in preparation before and after such natural disasters that are pending (hurricanes and typhoons are probably at least like you can get some warning of compared with let's say earthquakes). It may be one thing worthwhile for us including myself and Caleb to check with the Foundation and staff about any such experience, so in this or future occurrences chapters and local communities can be more quickly offered assistance. This may become more useful as we face more extreme weather conditions all over the world from climate change.

And of course, we hope for the best for our friends and communities and all the people in the region.

Charles

Just a word of concern for our Caribbean ISOC colleagues, especially those in SVG and Barbados, as they suffer the effects of Beryl the peril.

Trust all are well, and resilience plans were effective.
