It appears an internal step for these kinds of interventions got missed, and the link didn't get added to the front page. It's been fixed now. That said, any communication with any particular government is unlikely to dominate our main web page, since it would be by definition interesting only to part of our global communiity.

Our Regional Vice President for the region (in this case, NA) signed it. That's how we normally do these.

In this particular case, it's a direct attack on the critical properties of the Internet, as outlined in the Internet Way of Networking materials (https://www.internetsociety.org/issues/internet-way-of-networking/). We likely can't do this in every country, of course, because we don't really have the resources to monitor everything that is happening everywhere. We are better able to do it in places where we have active local chapters and various partners who are leading the way in such activities (as can be seen in this case, for instance). We certainly want to defend the Internet model as the best way to connect the whole world, and (as the Mission says), "We seek collaboration with all who share these goals."

I'm not sure I can comment on that case. Do you remember when it was and what the context was?
