Not to hijack this thread, which I appreciate is about ISOC's statement on this topic, but I hope you do not mind if I share Privacy International's excellent statement as well.

They published this a few days ago and it contains seven very clear ASKs of policymakers:

In my opinion these are seven smart, sensible, concrete proposals that would actually address the problems at the root of the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
