Many thanks to Dan for posting the excellent ISOC statement.
As further step, I propose that ISOC endorse the excellent statement below from Privacy International, which Ayden posted to the Internet Policy list.
Further, I can't help feeling that it would have been better if civil society organizations, and ISOC, had expressed similar thoughts back in November 2016 when I raised related issues in the Working Group on Enhanced Cooperation, see sections 1 and 9 of my submission to that group, at:

At the end of section 9, I said:
"Further, dominant search platforms may, inadvertently or deliberately, influence election results, which may pose an issue for democracy."
"9.2 Consequently, it is proposed to recommend that the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the UN HCHR be mandated to study the potential effects of platform dominance on elections and democracy."
