It is my understanding that there is a compelling need for ISOC to broaden

Will somebody get back to us ASAP if this is true?
If so, this is a high urgency matter to resolve, that presumably will be
done in a transparent and multistakeholder way.
I hope we don't have to drastically cut spending in order to defer some of
the $30M from the .org process.
What this is about for those who aren't legal experts.
The U.S. requires a non-profit to receive 10% of income from public
sources. (This was to prevent individuals setting up dummy non-profits to
evade taxes and other reasons.)
In 2016, we received 13%, not much of a margin.
I assume the current situation has been explained to the board and their
choices. The obvious thing to do is to cut 15% or so of our related income
and expenses in proportion.
That is not welcome and could be legally tricky.
