I think this is the main part that needs an update. My sense is that this
can be seen as paternalistic. Our experience is that this is considered by
those - who are not openly connected - as something that we wish to force
down their throats... who are we to tell people (communities, pristine
cultures, religious groups, even the Chinese nation), that the (open)
Internet is for them (which is and may be counter to what their leaders
say)?
For example there are very religious people (and cults and communities and
"indigenous people") who feel that there are better proprietary means to
communicate and they already have access to their own world of information
and all other information/communications are questionable, potentially
harmful and needing vetting.
I do not have a best counter proposal although I suggest changing "for" to
"open to" may be better.. ie the Internet is open to everyone
