Thank you Evan for stepping out and volunteering to take the CAC to the next level…

For those of us (like me) who are not familiar with ISOC jargon such as “CAC is a vital and necessary milestone in the cultural evolution of the Internet Society”

Can you please make few bullet points that explain why this is so… What are the main functions of the CAC? Why is it necessary?

THANKS!

Salam

Hi all,

I was approached by multiple people during the recent ICANN meeting, about (to use ISOC jargon) "rejuvenating" the Chapter Advisory Council. I have some good experience at creating charters, bylaws and procedural rules. And given that I'm not on ICANN's ALAC anymore, I have some cycles to contribute.

But most importantly, I believe that having an effective CAC is a vital and necessary milestone in the cultural evolution of the Internet Society. The first step was the Board's enabling a CAC to happen, now the challenge is on us to deliver.

It is worth noting that significant work has already been done. I have downloaded the current documents and spoken at length with John More (and I am delighted to discover our levels of common cause).

I look forward to contributing to move this effort forward at an accelerated pace.... and to have some specifics to add shortly.
