[Chapter-delegates] Internet Society Expresses Concern over Impact of IPR Provisions in TPP Agreement Draft

Observationally the comments I'm seeing suggest that there is a strong
sense that the Obama administration is promising one thing in public for
instance to allow phones to be unlocked from networks but in practice
has been drafting to make this illegal across all TTIP countries.
Likewise it has been "sympathetic" to copyright reformers in public
whilst it is promoting enlargement in the treaty and in a way that will
make reform very hard in other countries but also in the US. It is
amusing that last week a US based judge concluded that Google Book
scanning is legal based on fair use when the this treaty is drafted to
remove fairuse.

There is more than a tinge of systematic political duplicity here.
Whether it is intentional or just one hand not knowing what the other is
doing the effect is that once again we have the US leading a secret
negotiation where a small coterie of insiders are dictating disastrous
policy changes on the many.
