hi Rodel,
Let me try to answer your email, since this role is filling some part
of my current role (As the Director of Chapters I have responsibility
for support in the Asia Pacific as well).
The Chapter Development position is probably a bit unique in terms of
the normal "contractor" type of role. The role works very tightly with
other "Chapter Development" team members, Christine Saegesser Baethge
(Africa and Middle East) and Jacek Gajewski (Europe) and Sabrina
Wilmot who works part-time managing the Chapter applications. All
these roles, including the contractor one report into the Director
position . This contractor role will also work very closely with the
Asia Pacific Regional Bureau Director and staff aligned to the Bureau.
In delivering programmes and content, there is a lot of liaison with
the internal staff at ISOC and of course definitely not last or
least, it works closely with the ISOC Chapters and Members in the
Asia Pacific. As far as "overlapping" - you make a good point, but I
would replace this with "collaborates closely" since each of us
maintains an understanding of the global situation to a greater or
lesser degree so as to be able to provide the support necessary in the
case of absence. This is actually very important.
The primary responsibility is to support and assist the Chapters in
the region (this varies considerably per chapter of course). Some of
this help is supporting existing programmes that Chapters might apply
for, conducting and facilitating meetings and workshops, helping with
chapter formation, chapter rejuvenation, attending chapter events and
providing opportunities for cross chapter collaboration and supporting
chapter leaders with training and resources as needed. It also covers
more generalised support like answering queries about the membership
database, sending materials requested by chapters, setting up webex
meetings for chapters, presenting remotely at meetings, updating the
website etc etc.
I don't know if that helps to clarify things. If not, please do not
hesitate to contact me off list and I'd be happy to talk to you (or
anyone else interested in the role).
Best wishes
Anne
