[Chapter-delegates] .org domain seized by U.S. Department of Justice

I'd imagine a court order to the registrar. Just how technically a registrar
bypasses a registry is a good question, and raises contractual questions one
would think.

It would be very nice to see a copy of such a court order.

I recently noted comments from Michael Masnick questioning the entire legal
basis of such takedowns, as "Contributory copyright infringement " is a
civil not a criminal matter..

It is plain, in the manner that such things have been done, that they are
not well thought through. The initial November cases were quite reasonably
speculated to be a hoax they were so inept. It turned out the feds aim was
making a big splash on "Black Monday".  Again, one suspects here, somebody
is trying to please some higher up who has some powerful lobby on his back..

I've cc'd Kathy Kleiman above. perhaps she can cast some light on the .org
situation.
