Dear Khaled,
I agree and support your proposition. The naming Charter of our ccTLD is not
really different to the gTLD one; that why It is so complicated to us to get
back isoc.cm but at the and we will get it back to the Chapter. While
waiting, we are going to register internetsociety.cm as far as Internet
Society Cameroon Chapter represent the whole Cameroon Country.
It is also very important as you mentioned, to pay attention to the running
cost of those two domain names and definitely, some Chapters will need
financial support. For example, here in Cameroon, those two domain names
(isoc.cm & internetsociety.cm) will cost us around 200 dollars yearly.
Best regards,
Victor Ndonnang,
Internet Society Cameroon Chapter

Objet : [Chapter-delegates] ISOC Chapters domain name at the ccTLD level
Hi all,
I noticed that some chapters has been very reactive in registering the
chapter domain name at the level of the ccTLD, and this is very good.
I propose that we standardize this by making clear a process for each
chapter to register the domain name.
For me there is 2 cases :
- A chapter that represent a country : A chapter that represent one
country that doesn't a multi-communities that may one day need to create
other chapters. This case the chapter may register isoc.cctld and
internetsociety.cctld
- A chapter that represent a community/region in a country : In this
case the domain name will be isoc-[community/region].cctld or
internetsociety-[community/region].cctld
I suggest that those domain names will be registered and paid by
Internet Society through the chapter and depending of each ccTLD
regulation. But at least such cost should be supported by ISOC as we
noticed some chapters are in need of such support specially for those
where ccTLD is pricing the domain name high.
With that I want to stress on the fact that : ISOC and its chapters HAS
to be at the real front and TOP of Internet technology comparing to
other NGOs or community.
Regards,
Khaled KOUBAA
