[Chapter-delegates] Announcement : Global Chapter workshop alongside the Global INET

Hi everyone

Within the tight timeframe, I would assume that one of the important
criteria will be past achievements where candidates can demonstrate
leadership within their own countries - remembering that PICISOC represents
22 different island nations in the Pacific. Each with its own language,
culture, traditions as well as ICT access, connectivity and usage issues,
etc etc.

We will no doubt check out their participation in our PacINET, Pacific IGF
or other regional events, or if they have initiated a successful ICT project
on their home island, or whether they are actively involved in our busy
email list from which comes free expert advice and support for many of our
island internet users in some very isolated situations.

Because of the huge expanse of our region and the cost involved in gathering
all of our 700+ members together from across the Pacific, the Board will
never get to meet all of our members. It is likely that we will not have met
any of those who apply, so we have to ask them to describe what they have
done in the past. We have contacts in each of the islands who can verify any
statements.

It is because of the isolation factor, that we decided to put the
opportunity out there for this particular event, and if we can find funding
for other events, we'd like to offer these to members as well.

This however is our first-time attempt at such an invitation and is proving
to be an interesting learning experience.

Maureen
Chair PICISOC

Everyone,

What are your criteria to select the right person? For example, is it based
on the application only (what the person plans to do) or the past
achievements?
How do you plan to evaluate?
