Thank you Jacek
The problems within the Pacific are many. However, the PICISOC Board is confident that this activity is a small step forward. If we can recognize an individual who has been working actively in their community already and can offer him or her this unique training opportunity, we believe that the experience and contacts will provide the impetus for them not only to expand their work within their island nation but also to have some potential impact across the Pacific, firstly by their report to the members' email list on their return. We see it as PICISOC's role to encourage such capacity development in whatever way we can.

Dear Maureen,
> I would assume that one of the important
criteria will be past achievements where candidates can demonstrate
leadership within their own countries
We deeply appreciate the effort you put to choose the best candidate, under the very special conditions of your Chapter, and hope that your Chapter can in this way attract active young persons to its leadership. The training, they will get, will focus on Chapter related issues, not so much on general Internet Governance issues (for those interested in general IG, ISOC has other mechanisms of support).
> This however is our first-time attempt at such an invitation and is proving
to be an interesting learning experience.
We will be really interested to survey few month after Geneva INET, whether people entrusted with Chapter's Workshop nomination have really contributed positively to the activities of their own Chapter.
With best regards,
Jacek Gajewski
Chapter Development Manager
