Dear Gérard,
Dear all,
As Patrick already mentioned in a previous email, Belgium has introduced
the electronic ID card years ago.
Detailed information, in Dutch and French, is available at
http://eid.belgium.be/fr/index.jsp.
The e-ID was used in 2008 to deliver a safe chat environment for kids
(see attached PDF). The success was rather limited as kids avoided to be
controlled and did not really use the specific platform.
We, at ISOC Belgium, have already introduced the usage of the e-ID in
our membersonly platform end 2007
http://www.internetsociety.be/portal.php?mod=news§=1&ID=75
Recently, the module has been updated as the middleware software
changed. We are now finalizing the integration of secured handling
documents through our website with the use of the e-ID. If needed, I can
demonstrate it in Nairobi and of course in Brussels in June.
Access to this platform at http://www.internetsociety.be/?p=logineidmember
The integration of the e-ID in applications others than governmental is
increasing rapidly and many open source applications, such ad Drupal,
have already adapted.
Hope this helps, if more info is needed, please ask us .
Best regards,
Rudi Vansnick
