Dear all,

As Patrick already mentioned in a previous email, Belgium has
introduced the electronic ID card years ago.
Detailed information, in Dutch and French, is available at
The e-ID was used in 2008 to deliver a safe chat environment for kids
(see attached PDF). The success was rather limited as kids avoided to
be controlled and did not really use the specific platform.

We, at ISOC Belgium,
have already introduced the usage of the e-ID in our membersonly
Recently, the module has been updated as the middleware software
changed. We are now finalizing the integration of secured handling
documents through our website with the use of the e-ID. If needed, I
can demonstrate it in Nairobi and of course in Brussels in June.

Access to this platform at
http://www.internetsociety.be/?p=logineidmember

The integration of the e-ID in applications others than governmental is
increasing rapidly and many open source applications, such ad Drupal,
have already adapted.

Hope this helps, if more info is needed, please ask us .
Best regards,

Hello

I'm Gerard Dantec, recently elected president of the French chapter. I
have a question for the list.

The French Minister responsible for development of the digital economy
(Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet) opens a consultation and asks the French
chapter of ISOC to participate. The subject is "IDéNum": new
label for easy and secure access to various online services.

To authenticate, the user must connect a physical medium (mobile phone,
smart card, USB or MP3) containing a certificate, and dial a PIN.

Do you have similar experiences in your country, and if so, can you
share
information with us i.e achievements, problems that aroused,
etc...

This way, the French chapter can submit to the Minister a statement of
projects for which the chapters of ISOC provide standby or in which
they
are directly or indirectly involved

Best regards
