Public Relations
Reston, VA and Geneva, Switzerland - 17th January 2006 - The Internet
Society (ISOC) announces the appointment of Mark Thalhimer as
Director of Communications and Public Relations.
Mark will lead ISOC's expanding international communications
initiatives and communications staff. He will be responsible for the
coordination and integration of the Internet Society's global
communications and public relations activities by providing strategic
direction for and management of all communication and public
relations efforts across the organization.
With more than fifteen years experience working with journalists and
managing communications programs, he brings a wide range of skills
and knowledge to the organization. As a communications consultant,
Mark led media training in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the U.S.

television programming for the National Cable Telecommunications
Association, and wrote about the use of digital video for the
American Press Institute.
From 1995 to 2004 he directed the Future of News project for the
Radio and Television News Directors Foundation, examining the impact
of new technology on the gathering, editing and dissemination of news
and how the Internet is changing the public's use of media. In
addition to developing industry-focused research, he conducted more
than 100 media training workshops with professional groups ranging
from the Associated Press to the National Association of Broadcasters.
"We are glad to have Mark joining us as Director of Communications

look forward to working with our members and chapters to implement a
global communications strategy, and to significantly expanding our
communication efforts across the world."
