[Chapter-delegates] ISOC SERBIA - new country name

Hi all,

Yes, Veni is right. It's up to the UN and the ISO-3166 to decide as they
did last time - when they came up with .cs.
The referendum is complete and MonteNegro is no longer part of Serbia
and Montenegro (Crna Gora).

.cs - was the old country code Top-Level-Domain for Czechoslovakia, and
you may recall numerous letters asking ISO-3166 not to re-use an old
ccTLD code and give it a new country, saying that 10 years in Internet
times is not enough in between...

More history behind - my concerns expressed at the ICANN public forum in
Carthage, where I said that it would be best to wait with .CS allocation
for least for next two years, i.e. to await for the referendum results
in MonteNegro:

Apparently ICANN has to appoint an expert to seat on the ISO-3166 board.
Not certain if that person has now been appointed?

I've been quite involved with the Serbian local internet community and
the ccTLD manager, Mrs Marina Tasic on this matter and worked with two
of the three working groups, that recently published the new registry
bylaws for .YU or to become .RS. So, there is a lot of progress being made.

I can confirm that the new request for Serbia's ccTLD extension is
likely to be .rs - which stands for Republika Srbija or Republic of Serbia.
