When I started paying more attention to such things, just over 30 years ago

1 Jon was still with us.

2. TLD records were held in Network Solutions' common database at the 
InterNIC and shared objects, such as e.g. person objects like NR251 and 
host objects. (I remember dealing with somecalled Duane there).



I'm trying to fill in the gaps between my memory of that time and the 
previous 12 years or so.

I've heard tell that Jon originally kept records of to whom he delegated 
TLDs in a notebook, and perhaps SRI had more organised records when they 
were the InterNIC.

Can anyone throw light on this period, please??
