Dave Farber was, indirectly, my mentor. His DCS project was, to me, a
revelation, a view of a network as less a collection of machines
connected by communications links and more as complex, distributed
system that exhibited feedback pressures and loops, race conditions, and
other aspects more familiar to those who work with distributed
industrial or biological processes.
Dave Farber has left a large and positive mark on our world.
