 A phone story.
Even though I have my wireless cellphone service and  land line (POTS) service from the same company,  i cannot call my wireless voicemail phone number from my landline phone.  I get a fast busy signal (reorder tone, not the slow off hook tone). There is nothing wrong with my landline.  I can use the landline for all other calls.  I spent months discussing this with customer and technical  support for both the wireless service and the landline service in the middle of last year. I  discovered this after the wireless provider required my manufacturer to use their voicemail offering instead of what was on my phone for years.  They kept insisting my landline had no problem. Of course  it still doesn't work.  I got the impression it isn't supposed to work but they don"t want to say that. I am in the Bay Area.

The same thing that happened to the telephone network in the United
States. Now anyone can connect anything to the phone network and it's a
huge mess with lack of accountability.
