I suspect many if not most of the people on this list have gotten on the 
patent expert witness gravy train.  I've been in probably a dozen cases on 
the defense side against patents that were garbage, and one on the 
plaintiff side against Microsoft for a patent that was pretty good.

I should definitely increase my rate, though.
