This is a gathering engine.  To my knowledge, there is nothing about its 
operation designed for long term retention. I've no doubt that there are 
basic backup reliability procedures, but those have nothing to do with 
long-term.

I think this has been discussed here before.  I don't recall the 
resolution to it.

A particular challenge, for on-going venues like this, is to have a 
dynamic retention process, to make sure that new gems are also saved.
