Craig, thanks for sending that.  I did, indeed, entirely ignore the 
effect of traffic aggregation by the CSNet gateway.

I did initial CSNet development and operation and our traffic loads, 
then, were not big enough to call modest...  Craig, on the other hand, 
had to deal with a rather larger scale operation.

So, my comment about the adequacy and limitations of very slow dial=up 
links really is meant to apply to user access, not 'backbone' links.
