Craig described the tutorials component.

The other remarkable bit of culture was that the regular program of 
sessions, associated with the industry event, were required to have 
serious technical and opertional content.

There were special tracks for vendor marketing, but the main program did 
not allow vendor hype and if anyone snuck some in, they did not get a 
second chance.  The program was tightly managed and often included 
seeking out particular presenters, rather than waiting for vendors or 
others to offer.
