Hi All,
Thanks to those who have reviewed and provided comments. I would just like to clarify the requirements in the chapter application<https://www.internetsociety.org/chapters/start/application/>, are:
"Purpose and scope of Chapter: It is important to indicate how you intend to serve your community of interest and why a Chapter of the Internet Society is a good way to do it."
The application states:
“Vision: The Internet is safe for Everyone.
Mission: We aim to promote an open, globally connected, secure, and
trustworthy internet for all
Purpose: The Internet Society Nevada Chapter is dedicated to ensuring that
the Internet remains an open, globally-connected, secure, and trustworthy
resource for all residents of the Silver State. We serve as a multistakeholder
platform to bridge the gap between urban innovation and rural necessity,
advocating for policies and technical standards that promote digital equity,
protect user privacy, and foster a sustainable technological ecosystem from
the Sierras To the Mojave. "
The Vision would be the future aspirations and what this proposed group would like to work toward. If you look further down in the application, it lists their proposed areas of focus during the first year, and many of the areas are related to online trust and safety.
Best Regards,
Kyle

I would add to that a question about the definition of "Safe" the
potential chapter subscribes to. As we know all too well, some
people (and governments) include "safe from dissenting views"...
