Respected sir/madam

This is with reference to the mail sent by the former Vice President Sheikh Raashid Javid of ISOC Bengaluru Chapter.

The ISOC Bengaluru chapter has been revitalized through the commitment of its 7 core members over the past two years. The core team's primary goal is to contribute to the local community by ensuring that the Internet is accessible to everyone in the region. They strive to keep the community informed about technological advancements and to enhance its capacity for contribution. This initiative is driven purely by a desire to contribute to the community as a non-profit organization and no person is entitled to use the position to encash his power. The position is designated to delegate responsibilities and handle smooth coordination among members.

Our former vice president, Mr. Sheikh, was elected to his position a month ago. Mr. Sheikh expressed his interest in pursuing personal benefits under the ISOC chapter and inSIG banner, which the rest of the core team could not consider as it is against the ethics and bylaws of chapter and the focus of inSIG. Further he expressed his interest in delivering a technical talk as part of the inSIG event which could not be accommodated as the schedule was finalized before he was elected. The other reasons for this decision were
1. inSIG is an independent event organized by 7 ISOC India Chapters and It has its own protocols/ procedures.
2.inSIG is not an Internet Society event hence ISOC Bengaluru chapter cannot make independent decisions .
3.inSIG allows only fellows selected through a procedure to be part of the event.
4. The planning and work of inSIG goes on for a minimum 7-8 months and only active members who are working reflect on the website.
5. Being a Chapter leader does not mean that their name will be reflected on any group if you have not been actively engaged.

It is also important to clarify from ISoc Bangalore chapter that this issue is unrelated to inSIG .

We have clearly communicated the above reasons for not accepting his request during our core team meeting. But he chose to resign from his position without having any discussion with me ( President, ISOC Bengaluru Chapter) or the leadership team as well as did not seek any inputs from the board. We acknowledge and accept his resignation as his approach towards the concerns raised by him is unacceptable to all the core members and against the bylaws of the chapter.

Going forward, we assure that decisions will be managed internally by the Bengaluru core team as per the bylaws . We also ensure that we will remain committed to building our community through meaningful contributions to our members.

With regards
Dr Shobha K R
President, ISOC Bengaluru Chapter
