While I must agree with Caleb that this decision is properly a staff decision and that, if you want to blame someone, you can blame me, I wish to be perfectly clear that the board was in fact informed before we finalized this decision and before it was communicated to anyone. I naturally try to keep the board informed about potentially difficult or community-affecting decisions, and I did so in this case. I believe I communicated to the board, as I did elsewhere in this thread to this list, the reasons for the decision, and while several trustees expressed chagrin that the decision had to go the way it did I do not recall anyone seriously suggesting that another path ought to be taken.
