Hi Dave,
It's not clear to me what you mean by "the UK to present our proposals"
since your chapter and the UK chapter have equal standing.
Once you have final language for this proposal please send it, and I will
make sure that the board considers it at a future meeting. The meeting
agenda and materials for this meeting having been set some time ago, I do
not plan to take this up at the meeting which starts in five hours.
I remind you, and everyone concerned, that the Internet Society is a
mission-based society, rather than a constituent-based one. The vision and
mission of the society are set out here:
https://www.internetsociety.org/mission/ . Among the statement there you
will find this:
The Internet Society supports and promotes the development of the Internet
as a global technical infrastructure, a resource to enrich people’s lives,
and a force for good in society. Our work aligns with our goals for the
Internet to be open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy. We seek
collaboration with all who share these goals.
The individual members, chapter members, organizations, and IETF
participants all contribute to that mission in different ways.
Considerations on how the Society can come together to achieve the mission
goals would, in my personal opinion, be a valuable addition to your message
to the board. I will, of course, make sure the board as a whole sees and
considers whatever you choose to send.
best regards,
Ted Hardie
