Dear Internet Society Chapter Leaders,

I am writing to you as a dedicated member of the Internet Society Manitoba Chapter and a candidate for the Chapter Advisory Council Steering Committee. As the founder of the Manitoba Chapter, now the third chapter in Canada, and with a deep commitment to the success of ISOC chapters, I wish to emphasize the critical role chapters play in the vitality of our organization and the importance of a strong voice from the advisory council.

Chapters are the lifeblood of the Internet Society, serving as the bedrock of on-the-ground work and community engagement. Yet, they often find themselves under-funded and lacking the necessary resources to fulfill their missions effectively. To ensure the strength and sustainability of chapters, it is imperative that we focus on removing the barriers that hinder their access to funding and support.

I believe that one of the primary areas where we can make a significant impact is in simplifying the systems for chapters to access the vital resources they require. We must strive to streamline administrative processes, making them as straightforward as possible. Unnecessary administrative burdens should be eliminated to ease the path for chapters to receive the support they need.

In essence, my candidacy for the Chapter Advisory Council Steering Committee is rooted in a commitment to empower chapters like ours in Manitoba. By facilitating the accessibility of funding and support, we can enhance the capabilities of chapters to drive positive change in our communities and beyond.

I am excited about the opportunity to work collaboratively with the other chapters across the Internet Society. My experience in the education, technical, and military communities brings with it a wide range of skills and a unique worldview in which I believe the Internet is a critical enabler for all. Together, we can create a more accessible and supportive environment that empowers chapters to thrive and continue their essential work.
