Hi,

I am running for the steering committee as a technical person who has
been involved with industry, academia as well as venture capital.

Over the past 40 years I have worked for many employers (among them
industry leaders like Cisco, IBM, AT&T, Checkpoint, etc.) and have
worked on numerous Internet committees that required teamwork and
compromise.    I have written RFCs and patents in the realm of the
Internet.  For example,  back in 1996, I represented the IAB on the
International Ad Hoc Committee (IAHC) to determine the future structure
of the generic Top Level Domain system. This committee later became the
iPOC (Interim Policy Oversight Committee) and then became ICANN.

The Internet Society ChAC should be a voice of the end user. There are
far more extensive technical forums yet there is no organization that is
there to reflect the voice of the Internet end user.  Every single item
we list in our action plan for 2024 should be seen through the prism of
the end user.  Just taking one small example of something we should
*not* be involved in is “Fostering Sustainable Peering Infrastructure”.
I think NANOG and RIPE and PeeringDB do a far better job and that ISOC
has nothing to contribute in this area.  There are many areas that
affect end users where there is a vacuum which is where ISOC needs to be.

The ChAC needs to be the voice of the end user.
