Dear ISOC chapters colleagues,
Greetings once again from the Board of Trustees. I invite you to
participate in finalizing the Internet Society's 2030 Strategy. The survey
will close soon in the next 24 hours or so, at October 25 00:00 UTC, but
the Board still wants to hear from all of the ISOC Community. This future
comes with challenges, as Ted Hardie, our Chair, shared below. So, to help
your ISOC be better equipped with the best strategic focus, if you have not
already, please share your input by clicking to respond to the following
survey:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WhatisNextforISOC
Also, feel free to contact the Board of Trustees to share your thoughts and
ideas! Once again, please do not miss the opportunity to share your views
through the survey!
Best regards,
Charles Mok

> Dear Community Member,
>
> Over the past decades, the Internet has seen both astonishing growth and
> revolutionary change. In addition to being a constant source of
> communication, information, and entertainment, it has become an
> extraordinary engine of economic growth. It provides both economic
> opportunity and a sense of community to all who can connect.
>
> Despite those benefits, the vision of what the Internet can and should be
> is under threat. It is painted as an avenue of misinformation, a locus of
> criminal behavior, and a source of community distrust. Its benefits are
> taken for granted, and its risks are magnified for political gain or
> sensationalist rhetoric.
>
> The Board of Trustees believes the next five years are pivotal in the
> Internet’s development. A third of the world remains unconnected, and all
> of us risk of the Internet’s astonishing potential being diminished to a
> shadow of what it should be.
>
> That’s why the Board of Trustees has started to set a frame for the
> Internet Society’s priorities over the next five years. We seek your
> perspectives on that framing. We want to hear from our members, our
> partners, and even our critics on whether we are considering the right
> themes for the Internet Society’s 2030 Strategy.

> I will share an update soon about how the 2030 Strategy is progressing. In
> the meantime, thank you for your attention and for helping us shape the
> focus of our work over the next five years.
>
> More importantly, thank you for all your work in helping build a thriving
> and vibrant Internet for everyone.
