Hi Flavio,

For now this has only been shared with chapter leaders. We are asking whether you support the statement as is written now or if you have any input to make adjustments. The questionnaire is not a request for signature but just a way to gather input.

Once we have collected all your input the team will finalize the statement taking the input into account and we will share the final version with you to use in advocacy efforts at local level.

As mentioned in the email, we are also developing a plan mapping out a coordinated advocacy effort between chapters, as well as the rest of our community (organizations and individual members). I’ll share the ideas as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for joining us on the call last Thursday to discuss the current threats to the Internet.

The lively discussion really shows we are all deeply troubled by the recent efforts to disconnect Russia from the Internet. This sets the stage for the "Splinternet". Yes, the idea that the open, globally-connected Internet splinters into a collection of fragmented networks controlled by governments or corporations.

This threat is unprecedented. If there was ever a time to unite as a community, it's now.

As a next step, we'd like to get your input on a joint statement.

How you can help: please read the draft statement here<https://isoc.box.com/s/h8h2lxvbipkh20hqurn49q8v8fqrtwt8> and fill out a 3-minute questionnaire<https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TearDowntheWallsSplinteringOurInternet> to express your support and provide input. The survey will be open until 30 March and will circulate the final version shortly after.

This statement is currently draft and not for use yet.

We will finalize the statement with your input and send you a final version.
To have maximum impact, once the statement is final, we need to be coordinated on when it's used. The idea for a day of action came up on last Thursday's call and the letter will a primary advocacy tool during that day of action.

This will be a day for all of us to unite in sending a message to local, regional and global decision makers.

Again, this statement is embargoed and not to be used until then. This is our moment to defend the Internet together.
