ISOC Brazil, the Brazilian Chapter of the Internet Society, deeply
regrets to register that our pioneer and leader Tadao Takahashi passed
away yesterday, at the age of 71.
Tadao was one of the great Internet pioneers in Brazil and, for his many
relevant contributions, was inducted into the Internet Society Hall of
Fame in 2017
<https://www.internethalloffame.org/inductees/tadao-takahashi>, a
distinction bestowed on only four other Brazilians.
Tadao was one of the co-founders and great leaders of ISOC Brazil.
He was also one of the founders and director of RNP, the Brazilian NREN
(National Research and Education Network). He also had an essential role
in the creation of CGI.br, the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee, a
pioneering multistakeholder Internet governance body, in 1995.
You may check out here <https://youtu.be/nxLDRY4ajf4>the video where
Tadao, on the occasion of his induction into the Internet Hall of Fame,
talks about his contributions to the Internet.
Greetings
Flávio Wagner
President of ISOC Brazil
