Dear Christine, Klaus and Chapter delegates
Am I right in assuming that Klaus (and possibly others) is requesting a way to
import updates/changes to member data in a more practical way than manual
editing by point and click on the website? Like an API, or at least the
possibility to upload a CSV file.
If so, data privacy and GDPR should _not_ be of any hindrance. As long as the
same types of data as before are processed/stored, the interface for doing so
is of minor/no importance. More important is the possibility to actually store
correct (= up to date) data, which _is_ a GDPR requirement. Thus an interface
as requested, as long as the transfer is encrypted, will be an improvement
whether the current data privacy policy fulfills GDPR and other requirements or
not. Correct data is better than wrong data, and the ability _to_correct_ data
is a GDPR requirement. If updates are practically infeasable (due to the
time/work involved), the requirement is not fulfilled.
Data privacy policy can therefore not be considered a valid argument against
an improved interface in my belief.
Kind regards,
Christer
