Dear colleagues,
As a Sector Member of the ITU, Internet Society participated in the World Telecommunications/ICT Policy Forum (WTPF) preparatory process<https://www.itu.int/en/wtpf-21/Pages/ieg-wtpf-21.aspx> , the informal group of experts (IEG-WTPF-21) in preparation for the next WTPF<https://www.itu.int/wtpf21/en/> which will take place from 16 to 18 December 2021. The preparatory process ended the week of November 15th, with encouraging results related to our Internet Growth<https://www.internetsociety.org/issues/access/> efforts.
The Secretary-General's report<https://www.itu.int/wtpf21/en/itu-speeches/sgs-report/> and Draft Opinions<https://www.itu.int/wtpf21/en/draft-opinions/> developed by the IEG, contain positive language that enables complementary access solutions (such as Community Networks) to be considered as innovative solutions to achieve universal connectivity and sustainable development. We intend submit a contribution to the Forum, emphasizing and supporting these policy issues.
Internet Society will be participating remotely in this forum, collaborating with partners and community to achieve positive outcomes to keep the Internet open, secure, globally-connected and trustworthy for all. Please let us know if you are participating in the WTPF so we can connect with you.
