*How would you recommend that ISOC meet those challenges? What is the
   board's role in those efforts?*

   -

We are facing huge challenge due to DNS abuse and proactive measures

ISOC via PIR has been one of the leaders in documenting DNS abuse at .ORG
and they have pushed for greater awareness in the industry

ISOC can conduct seminars and Online training for chapter delegates to
understand the issues and help spread the word in their communities

   -

5G hype for IOT and the need for FCC and others to consider network
   slicing not just Net Neutrality

We are in the midst of implementing ( not everywhere) but a massive change
in the speed, delivery of services and nature of Internet base services
with 5 G but research has shown that the regulators ie FCC are not
prepared- Policy people at ISOC can provide concise and informative
position paper to assist the FCC and elsewhere

   -

The aging population will encounter more digital exclusion facing the
demands by the market and government

The growing number of older people ie. 24% in Italy and Japan are going to
forced to file their taxes, access government information, banking
information . ISOC can work with CARP and AARP and others to create
training materials for the chapters to reach the seniors to help them
navigate the Internet without anxiety

   -

Small Island States and emergent economies that are facing IT
professional job loss due to lower costs from large US and other companies

The AMAZON AWS and others are taking larger market share leaving the local
IT sector at risk of being too expensive and redundant. ISOC needs to work
with these governments to help them understand the risks and be proactive

   -

As mobile phones become the dominant device for Internet access we need
to be proactive to balance the gender divide on Mobile and access ownership
   in emergent countries

The GSMA has reported serious difference in Mobile phone ownership
especially in parts of Africa and India where women are not accessing the
technology to help them become digitally literate. ISOC can recognize this
disparity especially in any Beyond the net funding

   -

The Multistakeholder model is at risk of being dominated by a very small
number of vested interest parties which represent big business, government
and academia and missing is the voice of the people and their needs and
   wants

ISOC needs to recognize that people of poverty, disabled and rural and
disconnected community members need to have voice on issues impacting them
and Community Networking by ISOC provides connectivity to the unconnected

   -

IDN and UA are important aspects driving the evolution of the Internet’s
unique identifier systems as India and China will become more important
   players in the Internet

International Domain Names (IDN) Universal Acceptance( UA) is critical in
making the Internet for Everyone and ISOC has a role to promote this

********Board's role in all of these issues is for us raise these issues to
staff and make use that ISOC programmes pass the litmus test for
accountable *
