He served 10 years on the Bulgarian President's IT advisory committee (2002-2012), and as director of the Global Internet Policy Initiative, he helped my country to achieve one of the most Internet-friendly legislation on the planet. I also served with him on the ISOC Board in the yearly 2000s, and found him among the most progressive members, understanding very well the value of the chapters for ISOC.

We overlapped on the ISOC board during 2003-2004, and we were both heavily involved in ICANN, including many years together on the ICANN board. George is a thoughtful, independent and caring person. He is deeply knowledgeable about the community, the organizations and the issues. He stays above the political games and doesn't take sides. When faced with controversial issues, he analyzes and thinks through the component pieces and then comes to ell reasoned conclusions. He communicates well and is passionate, but he always holds his temper in check. He is a well trained mathematician, computer scientist and economist, and he functions well at the board level of any organization.

>> I have filed for the Chapters Election. I need to receive at least nine (9) signature emails from ISOC Chapter voting delegates by the deadline, Friday, 28 February 2020 at 15:00 UTC, so that my name will be added to the candidate slate for the Chapters election. Only emails from ISOC Chapter voting delegates (usually the Chapter chair or president) will be valid for my petition, and these emails must:
>>
>>     1.  come directly from the Voting Delegate via his or her email address of record with ISOC;
>>     2.  include the name of the petition supporter’s Chapter, and;
>> 3. include the name of the person whose petition is being supported (i.e. my name).
>>
>> If I receive the required number of signatures from ISOC Chapter voting delegates in support of my petition by the deadline, we will notify you and add your name to the slate of candidates for the Chapters election.
>>
>> My request to you
>>
>> I write to ask you to read my statement on the site above and then, through your Chapter voting representative, support my petition to be on the ballot. This support, if successful, only puts my name on the ballot; the actual voting for the Trustee position comes later.
>>
>> In my view, ISOC is in a crisis, largely self-inflicted by the manner in which it has moved to sell PIR to Ethos Capital. This crisis could turn out to be existential. Regardless of the outcome of the process leading to the sale or its retraction, ISOC will have lost significant trust of the membership and standing in the not-for-profit community. I believe that current crisis exists in part because the organization has lost some degree of fundamental contact and rapport with its membership. I am running for a seat on the Board in order to change that as best I can.
>>
>> ISOC will need help in picking up the pieces and re-establishing itself as best possible as a trusted member of the Internet ecosystem. It has been an important resource for the Internet ecosystem since its conception, and it is doing valuable work in several areas. My goal is to help it to preserve its legacy and to continue its work as best it can. I think that it would be a tragedy if the current crisis rendered it isolated and/or ineffective, and I believe that I have the history, experience and ability to help avoid that outcome.
>>
>> I'm available to respond to questions that you might have regarding my statement or other views I have. There's more detail about me at georgesadowsky.org. I will be grateful for your support.
