Last night, our Australian chapter held its Annual General Meeting, and presented our
annual report and financial report to members - those docs are publicly available on
our website at https://internet.org.au/agm-2019

Following the AGM, last night the Directors held the 'First Board Meeting after the
AGM' to elect office-holders for the coming year, as described in our Constitution.

After due consideration, the Board of Directors decided to continue the current
office-holders unchanged, which is:

  * Paul Brooks                 - Chair
  * Cheryl Langdon-Orr   - Vice-Chair (International) & Treasurer
  * Keith Besgrove            - Vice-Chair
  * Sae Ra Germaine        - Vice Chair
  * Roger Clarke                - Secretary

non office-holder Directors:

  * Geoff Huston
  * Greg Adamson
  * Holly Raiche
  * James Horton
  * Peter Tonoli

At the NetThing IGF yesterday, we heard often from panellists and the participants
about the importance of volunteers in the not-for-profit and civil society
organisations, who are driving their organisations in their 'spare time' outside their
dayjobs, or indeed may be self-employed, so the time they donate to their volunteer
role is directly competing with their ability to earn an income, resulting in a
'contribution in-kind' that can be directly measured in many $thousands.

People contribute on a volunteer basis for many reasons - to make a difference, to
meet and work with awesome people, to contribute to a movement that strikes a chord or
a passion. We are immensely lucky to have these outstanding people donating their
efforts for Internet Australia in a leadership capacity, and I am grateful as Chair
for their support, and the opportunity to work with them, with our Members, and with
the ISOC movement globally,  to bring a considered, authoritative, evidence-based
voice on behalf of all the general users of the Internet for work, rest, support,
education, and play, and to educate and help people understand the issues and
implications of proposed changes.

Best Regards, Paul
