[Chapter-delegates] MemberNova Update February 19

Dear Colleagues,

Since Joyce Dogniez wrote to you last week about MemberNova, we have continued work on resolving the difficulties you have been experiencing with the new membership platform.

 

Our support team has now helped the majority of you who submitted support requests with answers you needed and help you requested - we have closed 200 such tickets submitted since 1st February, and we are now working hard to complete the final 40 or so.

 

Functionality and Fixes

I want to highlight some important functionality fixes that we have completed.
Some of you had reported being unable to email certain “categories” as you could before, such as chapter applicants, members awaiting renewal, and expired members who need to renew. We've addressed this and we've created a simple guide that will walk you through how to use this functionality. This PDF guide is available now in your dashboard. Additional distribution lists for the email system are planned for Phase 2 of the roll-out. Phase 2 will be defined in early March with regular updates planned through September 2019.
Chapter-Officers have said that they couldn't filter their member list and mail sub-groups based on criteria such as City or Country. We’ve enhanced the member listing to include more data points such as tags to show whether they are opted-in to emails. We’ve also added more search criteria such as email, country, city, and opt-in status, and a couple more sorting options.
In MemberNova, emails now go to all officers of a given Chapter each time certain operations are triggered - a new applicant, for instance. As of February 15, chapter applications are only being sent to the email address on the chapter profile.
We have fixed the known issues related to subscriptions and roles but we are still looking into the root cause. Please send any new issues to @amshelp at isoc.org.
We have merged the chapter logo with the default email template.
We are working on a number of other fixes to functionality and use, including:
Some officers have noted the current challenges with pagination, where the MemberNova interface does not allow someone to see more search results and go to page N rather than clicking 'next page' several times. This has been noted and we will implement a fix during the Phase 2 roll out.
We have had requests for an improved applicant review area, that allows bulk acceptance/denial and shows alternative data points like city and country.  We have submitted requirements to MemberNova based on the feedback we have received and we're aiming for a release date in Q2.
We have received feedback that proximity searching and API data are not accurate in all cases for some Chapters, because the Google API is blocking our requests due to volume. We are still working to get the coordinates corrected.
Regarding proximity, some of you have noted that the system doesn't allow for the unit of measurement to be changed (miles vs. kilometres). We are looking into this and are trying to provide more options.
While we have merged the chapter logo with the default email template (see above), the customizable signature field is still a work in progress.
We will provide you with a further update on functionality and fixes at the end of February.

 

Training on MemberNova

On Friday 22nd February, we will be offering a one-hour Chapter Training session to show Chapter Officers how to use the system, with specific focus on email generation and other recent updates.

Video Training

Finally, I wanted to let you know that we are working with MemberNova on creating a series of videos that you can view at your convenience to help you make best use of the platform. The first of these videos will address frequently-asked questions, such as creating an email, and we aim to have it ready for you in early March. More news soon!
