[Chapter-delegates] Sad loss of Lajos Bálint

Dear Collegues,

I'm sad to have to report that Dr. Lajos Balint suddenly passed away
last Friday.

Lajos was an active member of the ISOC community since the early days,
and a former chapter leader. He was member and Vice-Chair of the
ISOC-AC (the Advisory Council of the Internet Society). He made over
200 publications over a course of 50 years, and was one of the founders
of Hungarian NREN in 1986, treasurer of TERENA, member of various
groups including European Research Area Board and various HLEG of EC).
He tirelessly contributed to shaping the future of R&E networking and
e-infrastructure development in Europe and beyond. Recently, he was
involved with the European OpenScience Cloud initiative:

In addition to all his many achievements and contributions, I will
remember him as a kind, knowledgeable and positive man, always ready to
give good advice. He will be missed.
