I feel I need to clarify some things in this email...please see below.

This is neither the intention, nor the reality of the system. You can decline receiving commercial mail from ISOC by not clicking the email opt-in. You will still receive Transactional email (like if you forget your password and ask us to send a link to reset it). The canceling of membership ONLY happens if you decline to let us keep your email address on-file. Without an email address, there is no way to let a member login (validate) to our systems, nor to receive transactional email.
A person can be a member, but unsubscribe to receiving general communication. I hope that clarifies and thank you for bringing it up.
