Hi Dan,
[this message goes to the list and not the issues page since it is rather about the process than the product]

CONGRATS and THANK YOU so much. This is what was many of us asked for quite often. So everybody should feel encouraged to leave proposals for improvement, praise, complains, ... in THIS place.
As always - this leaves room to ask for more.
Those chapters who (like us) think about a relaunch of their own Web Site (using WP) normally have 2 options today:
- do it on their own (maybe using some existing WP theme that covers their needs)
- fork (or clone) https://github.com/InternetSocietyChapters/isoc2017-wp (a project brought forward with much effort from ISOC and ISOC.NL). Which - in order to become a success - probably would require continued support from ISOC.
I wonder if ISOC considers to make the new Web Site Theme completely Open Source with the option to fork the code. IMHO it would be beneficial in several ways:
- it would show the world that ISOC doesn't only talk about an OPEN Internet but also makes good use of it
- forks might provide corrections, improvements and extensions that could be merged with the main branch (e.g. there could be running code complementing requests on the issues page.)
- it would be much easier for chapters to follow the ISOC CD and keep the design of their Web Sites up-to-date.
Anyhow: before investing into a relaunch of a chapters Web Site it might be good to know if the result of your work (namely the WP Theme) will be available for reuse by chapters.
Just a dream?
Best regards
Klaus
