Richard,

the "enhanced membership model" proposed for the ICANN At Large Review is a throwback to the original constitution of the At Large by individuals (also the IDNO or Individual Domain Name-Holders Organization), which failed spectacularly.

It took lots of hard work to designn and put in place the present concept based on organizations and a "Web of Trust". It is sadly true that it is a corporativist design with a nnumber of probelms of its own. However, instead of fixing its problems, the proposal "throws away the baby with the bathwater."

Problems like capture by a few individuals will not be solved and in fact most likely will be aggravated by the "enhanced membership model."

Dear Alejandro,

Thank you for this. I’m sure that some members of ISOC-CH will comment.

Can you please elaborate on the reasons for which you consider the “enhanced membership model” to be deeply flawed?

Thanks again and best,

Richard

HI all,

https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/atlarge-review-draft-report-31jan17-en.pdf has the latest version of the ICANN At-Large Review.

I think it is of interest for ISOSC in general and for the chapters very particularly.

IMO the document characterizes the role of ISOC chapters in the ICANN At Large in a wrong way and proposes a way forward called the "enhanced membership model" that is deeply flawed.

Have any others of you read it, do you have any comments?

Yours,

Alejandro Pisanty
