The Washington DC Chapter by its Bylaws restricts "members" (I.e., people on our mailing list) eligible for office and to vote to those living or working in the Washington metro area who have participated in Chapter activities or attended events. We do not use the AMS system for communications, but have our own system that does a better job of verifying and creating a database. We do attempt to reach out to our broader database of 3000 worldwide because of our active collaboration with other Chapters and our streamed events that have a broader audience.
